A Tribute to Mrs. Del Vecchio

No dictionary contains all the adjectives that characterized Mrs. Patricia Del Vecchio. Devoted wife, caring mother, competent teacher were her more prominent roles and titles. With a unique personal finesse, she practiced the social qualities that made her a successful leader in family, classroom and society at large. The gentleness of her presence, which easily lit up a room, served as a warm welcome, a call for belonging, to the various age groups seeking peace and love in her life.

During her near to twenty years at St. Louis School, Mrs. Del Vecchio bonded into a close friendship that lasted nine years, with Mrs. Donna Henderson. While both were teaching grade 5, the two discovered their potential to create very original school activities that amazed the entire school personnel. The original skits invented by these two friends were occasions for great hilarity among the faculty and the student body. One never knew what to expect from the Pat & Donna Team.

On whatever committee Pat Del Vecchio served, there was quality performance found. Other teachers valued her ideas, the fairness of her suggestions, her willingness to do extra research and especially to promote the Christian values so important to the success of Catholic Schools.

Students and parents appreciated the work of Mrs. Del Vecchio for they realized that for her, teaching was not a job but a life training she was giving the children of the growing generation. In her classroom teaching, she could add variety to her methods well enough to keep the students interested in learning English grammar. Yes, she had originality, she graded papers fairly, she liked to see the better side of any pupil`s efforts to learn. It is no wonder that as a teacher, she enhanced the school`s reputation. All of us have been blessed for having worked with Patricia Del Vecchio.

But now, we must bid farewell to our friend and colleague since in God`s plan she has been called Home. We invite you, Pat, to keep a protective eye on whatever number of years remain in our lives. Any gift from heaven you can send our way will be welcomed. We shall remember you with love and admiration. The Red Sox lost a great fan !
